The isolated location of the Priory was a key factor in the choice of roofing material - VM zinc rather than the more traditional lead.

The roof on the North side of Binham Priory is easily accessible and the building is located in a particularly isolated area. A lead roof would have acted like a magnet to thieves, so the client opted for another material - VM zinc - that would not only be in sympathy with the building but would also be the nearest colour match to the original.
