Bavent House, Reydon Smear, Suffolk

ALR were commissioned to install the black zinc cladding to the outer edges of the building, this was chosen not only for it's aesthetics bout also it's durability.  The house sits within the salt planes of Southwold and so zinc was the perfect material  for the sides ouf the house, acting as a protective skin to the elements.

Robert Norman Associates Ltd were the main contractor on this project and fitted the Iroko hard wood cladding which was used for the internal spaces to represent the reeds found wihin the salt planes.

Hudson Architects won the 2011 Spirit of Ingenuity award for best Residential Design and the project was also named "Highly Commended" in  Grand Designs 2011 Awards.
